IMPORTANT: Cancellation Fee

Cancellations must be made online or via phone to the PODCR - Laura Ritchie
  • Cancellations made less than 42 days (6 weeks) before the date the course begins will be charged a fee of $300 dollars.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days (2 weeks) before the date the course begins will be charged a fee of $600 dollars.
  • Cancellations made less than 2 days (48 hours) before the date the course begins will be charged a fee of $1200 dollars.

*Note: Cancellations stemming from extreme and/or uncontrollable and/or unforeseeable circumstances may be subject to a review and altered fee penalty. Any consideration for cancellation fee adjustment will be subject to a review of mandatory documentation submitted by the student including, but not limited to, written justification and notarized supporting documentation validating the circumstances.

An Introduction to Vestibular Rehabilitation and Differential Diagnosis of Dizziness - ( Course capacity 24 )

Description:

Dizziness is one of the most common complaints why patients seek medical advice.
- 40% of adults experience clinically significant dizziness at some time in their lives
- ¼ of all Emergency visits have a complaint of dizziness
- Dizziness is a symptom of disease in almost ANY organ system, a constellation of symptoms presented by patients that often seems complex

Many patients with dizziness have an abnormality related to vestibular function or CNS processing of sensory information that is important for spatial balance. Improve your assessment skill and understand of the dizzy patient by providing thorough assessment, evidence-based treatment, and raising awareness.

Course content:
1) Vestibular Anatomy and Physiology
2) Signs and Symptoms of Vestibular Disorders
3) Differential diagnosis of Dizziness
4) Vestibular examination (Cranial nerve screen, Oculomotor testing, cerebellar/UMN, balance and gait, motion sensitivity)
5) Case study approach to outline principles and practice in the care of common vestibular disorders (BPPV, UVH, Concussion, Cervicogenic dizziness)

Course Instructor:
Corinne Roos is a physical therapist who graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1989. From 1997-2013 Corinne instructed in the level system of courses for the Orthopaedic Division (CPA). Corinne instructed in the UWO Clinical Master’s program of Manual and Manipulative therapy from 2007-2016, she continues to be Examiner with the program. Corinne completed her first comprehensive vestibular course with Lifemark in 2007. In 2013 completed a competency based certification course through Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Corinne continues to treat a varied caseload of orthopaedic conditions, MVA, Vestibular Rehabilitation and Concussion patients.
